LESSON SERIES: Beginning Guitar - Lesson Pack 4

Online Guitar Music Lessons with Ken Wheeler.

Students can expect to learn numerous additional chords and rhythm patterns as well as Instrumental, Lead and Rhythm guitar parts.

Ken Wheeler will also be giving an introduction to Slide Guitar in this package.

The song pace and skill level will begin to increase in this series of lessons, but you will be able to add 4 famous songs to the list of songs you can play and become more familiar with the entire guitar neck.

Lesson 13 - Born Under a Bad Sign

	Although you may not feel capable of playing such a difficult song so soon, but if you have been following Ken Wheeler's lessons from the beginning and you have had plenty of practice you may just surprise yourself in what Ken Wheeler would describe as one of the most fun lessons in all the packages. You will be learning the top half of the blues scale in this portion of the lesson pack, tuning your guitar to a D Flat chord and learning how to bend guitar strings.

Lesson 14 - Walk Don't Run - Surf Guitar Lead

	This is quite a fast paced song and again, Ken Wheeler will remind not to feel discouraged or daunted by that, but to read the additional learning material supplied by Music Texas Style, watch the lessons again if you feel you need more preparation and try to practice a little more. You will now begin to play both lead and rhythm sections of faster songs as the lessons progress. This greatly improves timing and the ability to move your hands around the guitar neck. Ken Wheeler will talk about down and up strokes of the pick on faster songs.

Lesson 15 - Gimme Three Steps - Southern Rock

	Ken Wheeler will ease you into this song by going through each individual note and chord and explains that again, this may be a little challenging. You will be using the skills you have learned in the previous lessons to bend strings and play power chords. In this section, Ken will also be introducing you to sliding up and down the guitar neck between notes. This will assist students with using more of their fingers on their left hand, or "fretting hand".

Lesson 16 - If I Had Possesion Over Judgement Day

	During the course of these lessons packages, students have only used their fingers to play chords and notes along the frets of their guitars. In this segment, students will be learning how to use a "Slide" along the strings of the guitar.

Musical Background:

Hailing from a highly musical family, Ken Wheeler took his first guitar lesson at age 9 at McCord Music in Dallas, Texas, and later began teaching there in 1957.

He became a jazz and blues fan at a very young age citing some of his earliest influences as Johnny Smith and Chet Atkins.

Throughout Ken�s vast career he has held music clinics, worked for the Chicago Musical Instrument Corporation, played with two of his all-time favorite artists, Chet Atkins and Muddy Waters, and has continued his love of teaching simultaneously. Studying the styles of Freddie King or Muddy Waters with Ken Wheeler would be as close as you could get to playing with them in real life. He has recorded TV specials that were aired around the US, and has recorded CD's and instruction videos sold worldwide under the name "University of the Blues".

Ken has also appeared in a number of newspaper and magazine articles over the years including the Dallas Morning News, and has written a varied number of articles that have been published across America. Ken Wheeler has led a truly incredible and blessed life. He has met an amazing assortment of individuals and has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years.

Teaching Experience:

Ken has been both an electric and acoustic guitar teacher for the past 50 years. He is a highly dedicated and motivational teacher who believes learning should be fun. Since he has taught thousands of students over the years, he is fully aware of all the potential pitfalls and problems that are faced by students wishing to learn a new instrument.

For the past 20 years he has taught at the world renowned �Charley�s Guitar Shop" in Dallas, Texas. Throughout his extensive teaching career, Ken has even taught members of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Stars along with some of the great Country and Western hall of famers.

If you study the styles of Freddie King or Muddy Waters with him, it will be as close as you can get to studying with Freddie King or Muddy Waters themselves.
