Lesson 5 - 9th Chords / 12 bar Rhythm

In one of the most useful lessons of all, Ken Wheeler will be teaching you how to make 9th chords. He explains the reason why some chords are numbered, what that means and how to read them on written materials.

Ken Wheeler will play through a twelve bar blues song acoustically using only 9th chords, and then again with a backing track in order for you to experience hearing and playing with both.

This lesson should then give you the capability to jam with a blues band and play Rhythm and Lead in several different keys.

Skill Level: 2 Runtime: 4 mins
  Lesson 6 - 12 Guitar Licks
Lesson 6 - 12 Guitar Licks

Ken Wheeler will teach you 12 "Licks" in this lesson and explain that as a guitar player it is necessary for you to know a wide variety of licks.

This lesson contains the most useful part of a blues scale and shows the theory behind playing the blues.

Skill Level: 2 Runtime: 3 mins
Lesson 7 - 12 Bar Blues 9th Chords (Lead and Rhythm)
Lesson 7 - 12 Bar Blues 9th Chords (Lead and Rhythm)

In a previous lesson in this package, Ken Wheeler spoke about how a traditional twelve bar blues song begins. Now combining this with the licks you have learned in the previous lesson, you will merge the two together to create a melody.

You will also be taught how to locate a "Root" note to allow you to move the scale patterns up and down the guitar neck dependent of which key you wish to play in.
