Musical Background:
Richard Schroeder began learning the Banjo from very traditional players, though quickly learned that when playing the Banjo it was important that you developed a style of playing that was unique to yourself.

Since then he has gone on to create a very progressive method. He emerged at the forefront of the Newgrass Movement, with his band The Monroe Doctrine, in the 70′s.

Not long after this, he fell under the influence of the great swing fiddler, Johnny Gimble, and quickly became nationally renowned, playing with the likes of Hylo Brown and Bill Monroe.

Teaching Experience:
Richard is an experienced Bluegrass and Jazz Banjo player. His unique approach to learning banjo stresses ear training with a healthy dose of music theory.

Genres:
Richard can teach anything, but is especially proficient in Bluegrass and Blues standards.

In over 20 minutes of instruction, you will learn how to play in a three finger picking style, how to perform rolls and most importantly how to implement them in a song.
